Central Subway Design Approved
The MTA received aproval from the Federal Transit Administration on Thursday to enter into Final Design for the Central Subway project. It will still be almost two years before Muni could receive a full grant for the subway, which is now expected to cost $1.6 billion, with service currently expected to begin in 2018. Find out more.
If you are familiar with the 3rd St. line, you know it goes around the Embarcadero. This new route takes it underground I believe at 4th St, or slightly thereafter. Then to Moscone, Union Square and Chinatown. So if you live in the South East portion of the city, it will be a quick way across town.
